I have been hearing a lot lately about Jott, the web service enabled voice mailing system.
Setup various capture systems for example. Your business partner's e-mail address, your honey due list on Remember the Milk, or even your own blog on TypePad. (The system this blog is hosted on.)
Then all you do is call a toll free number leave a voice mail, tell them where you want it sent, and jott take's care of the rest.
If you are driving, but need to send an important e-mail, to your partner. Call up Jott, record your message (make sure to spell out proper nouns). And after a little while, a real person (outsourced in a far a way country) transcribes your voice message and sends it to the service you requested.
Jott has a healthy list of web services they can send messages to. I have used the Jott service to add an appointment to my Google Calendar which syncs with my iCal via BusySync.
Using outsourced humans as a user interface to the web services in your life is pretty slick. Jott even lets your create your own personal web services. According to their developer page:
You can build Jott Links in any language and they can reside on any HTTP server. Create a dynamic web page to read posts and forward them to another service by using that service's API and there you have it!
Developing your own web services and using your voice to Jott to that service is an amazing capability. The very first use I thought of was Home Automation with X10. You could then call jott, and use the service to turn your lights on or off, pre-heat the oven, etc.
